Children will receive the following
Weekly spellings (given out on Friday).
Times tables (given out on Friday).
A piece of work related to what has been covered in the week.
Children should be reading 4+ times a week. Reading records will be checked every morning.
Children who fail to complete homework on time will be required to complete it in a lunch time homework club.
This term our topic will be
The Stone Age,
Bronze Age and Iron Age
We will be covering the following areas
Science: We will be exploring and investigating how different sounds are made through instruments and learning about the anatomy of the ear.
Computing: Children will revise and practice key skills such as creating and saving work using a variety of software. Children will explore and learn to use a programme called Scratch, which uses coding to make characters perform actions.
History: The children will be studying the Stone Age, Bronze Age and Iron Age periods. We will look at what made these periods in history special exploring the discoveries and inventions. Children will have the opportunity to examine artefacts, look at artwork food and culture from these historical periods. We will also visit the Craven Arms discovery centre to participate in various workshops.
Art: Phase Three’s topic this term is Stone Age, Bronze Age and Iron Age and because of this we will be exploring their use of cave paintings and hand stencils. We will be comparing different cave paintings and adopting their style when we create our own cave paintings using chalk and pastels.
R.E: Children will think about factors that can make choosing right over wrong difficult and describe strategies that believers have for dealing with them.
Pupils will be learning about the key aspects of Judaism and thinking about what it means to be a Christian at Easter.
P.S.H.E: Children will learn how to set themselves targets, achieve them and also how to overcome barriers. In the second half of term pupils will learn to discuss their own and recognise other people’s feelings.
Music: Linking with their science topic on sound, this term in music the children will be exploring a variety of instrumental timbres while also developing their composition and performance skills. They will also be developing their listening and appraising skills while analysing a variety of different musical extracts from different periods in time.
All homework is handed out on a Friday and given in on a Wednesday.
Children should bring a labelled water bottle to drink throughout the day.
Coats should be brought into school from the onset of the Autumn term.
P.E kits are needed for Mondays and Tuesdays.
